WCIU Channel 26 - John Q's Entertainment Scene - "Mr. T" (Part 3, 1978)
Here is Part 3 of a locally produced dance show called John Q's Entertainment Scene on WCIU Channel 26. Not quite Soul Train, but close enough. This was their 1st Anniversary episode.
Features a pre-A-Team Mr. T talking about his experience being a bodyguard for boxer Leon Spinks.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that this hasn't been seen in 30 years.
Marvel at the low-budget 70's-ish-ness of it all. :-)
Update:
Got an e-mail:
Yes, that is me in the white halter dress. My name is Barbette Joy Watts. I was attending Loop Jr. College at the time, along with some of the other dancers:
TK -- tall light-skinned gentlemen with large afro
Debbie -- tall young lady with long black dress dancing with TK
Johnny -- tall gentlemen who was my partner in Part 3 Video
(I'm terrible with last names).
We had so much fun on the show and met some really great artists. I remember Melba Moore was one of the guest. It was really an exciting time for me; the show was produced by Bill Jenkins and Toni O'Kelley; I later joined their dance troupe The Momentum Art Players the following year.
Thanks again for posting the videos. It brought back some wonderful memories.
This aired on local Chicago TV on Saturday, December 16th 1978.
