WSNS Channel 44 - The 1 O'Clock Movie - "Gulliver's Travels" (Opening, 1979)

Now for some more neat old TV-44 footage!

Here is the opening to The 1 O'Clock Movie presentation of the animated "Gulliver's Travels" on WSNS. It probably starts about 7 seconds late, but it's mostly complete. We can see some scenes of famous stars and movies interspersed with the graphics - ones I can make out are Cary Grant in some movie and Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel from the film The Producers. And is that a scene from Metropolis?

Unfortunately (we can always find something to complain about, can't we?) the person who recorded this 29 years ago (who at the time had no idea his recording would be enshrined forever) had some iffy reception, since the picture goes back and forth between color and black and white throughout the movie. This opening segment's in B & W. :-( Would have been nice to see it in color; in any case it's clearly an epileptic's nightmare.

Voiceover by Don Ferris. Still trying to discover the name/artist of the jazz tune used for the theme - no luck so far. This theme was also used for at least one other WSNS movie show - Featuring "The Star-Spangled Movie".

This aired on local Chicago TV on Thursday, December 27th 1979.
