We now pay our respects to a man who was very comforting to us in his regularity. When you saw a report like this you knew another year had passed.

Here is a news segment detailing the first time Jim "Moose" Murphy waited in line for his Cook County Forest Preserve picnic permit. Interesting to watch because it also notes that in 1983 Moose beat out another long-time holder of the "first in line" crown - a man named Elmer Tucker, who had been first for 10 years in a row from 1972-1982. Kind of funny how no one remembers him after Moose became king.

Featuring newscaster Marty McNeeley and reporter Robert Jordan.

This aired on local Chicago TV early Saturday, January 1st 1983.
