Here's a commercial for foamy Dads Root Beer (or is it Dad's Root Beer?) in the new plastic 2 liter bottle. Starring little Mindy Blank who was about 6 years old at the time.

Her mom found this commercial (which was originally in a break for the WLS 3:30 Movie presentation of "Jason and the Argonauts") through a web search and wrote to me. She was nice enough to share some of the story of how Mindy wound up in the commercial.

"We lived in Northbrook. I registered her older twin sisters with Shirley Hamilton. Mindy came along to a cattle call and they wanted to see her. They interviewed her and eventually the ad agency selected Mindy for this commercial. She did one other, a PSA for the Lincoln Park Zoo, but, absolutely hated the long days of filming. So I didn't pursue any others. She did several photo ads. We have the newspapers and magazines of those and a copy of a billboard ad for the Girl Scouts.

She is married now, a mom of 3 and living in Tennessee."

It's neat discoveries like this that make me glad I am running this museum.
    :-)

This aired on local Chicago TV on Wednesday, December 27th 1978.
