Midocean Motion Pictures - "Demo Reel" (1979?)
Here's the final part of a demo reel from Midocean Motion Pictures, a production and graphics firm which worked "in association with" EUE-Screen Gems (the latter of "S From Hell" infamy, spun off from Columbia Pictures).
This came from a 3/4" Umatic tape that was kept by Cathy Mustari, art director for WFLD Channel 32 from 1974 to the late '80's, from a time when the station was actively shopping for production houses to handle their graphics for opens/closes, bumpers, promos, etc.
This reel includes:
- Midocean opening bumper (with background music consisting of a segment of Kraftwerk's 1977 hit "Trans-Europe Express")
- Commercial for Zenith System 3 color television - with computer Space Command remote control on many 19" and 25" (diagonal models), with cable TV switch - "Now Even Better" (voiceover by ??)
- Commercial for Braun Micron electric shaver (voiceover by ??)
- Commercial for Super Mazda + (Plus) batteries - "Le Plein d'Energie" - in French language
- Commercial for "Just Call Me Maxi" fragrance by Max Factor
- "HBO Feature Movie" presentation bumper
- Asics logo bumper
- ABC Saturday bumper
- Logo bumper for Georgia-Pacific
- Commercial for Kent Golden Lights cigarettes (apparently aired overseas, given the ban on cigarette advertising in the U.S. that had been in effect since January 2nd 1971)
- Commercial for the Bell System - "The System Is the Solution" (voiceover by ??)
- Commercial for RCA ColorTrak 1980 TV sets - with eight automatic color systems - "RCA Is Making Television Better and Better" (voiceover by ??)
- Another commercial for Zenith System 3 - "The Best Zenith Ever" (voiceover by ??)
- Logo bumper for Berger Colorizer paint
- Animation of flowers blooming
- "5 for 85 cents" graphic
- Commercial for Seiko watches
- Commercial for Texas Instruments
- Logo bumper for Chrysler Simca
- Logo bumper for Security Trust - "Nearest Your Needs"
- Commercial for Berec Power Plus batteries - "Pure Living Energy" (voiceover by ??)
- Logo bumper for WTTW Channel 11 (of special interest to the Fuzzy community) - seen in the late 1970's and early '80's on the opening of many shows produced by the station, including Soundstage and Sneak Previews with Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert
- Commercial for Braun Electronic Sensor Hairstyling Set (voiceover by ??)
- Yet another commercial for Zenith System 3 (voiceover by ??)
- Ending Midocean logo bumper
This obviously never aired anywhere, but it was produced in or around 1979.

FYI: Some of the non-Kraftwerk "synth" music that were heard on the second and third parts of this presentation came from Jean Michel Jarre's 1978 album "Equinoxe."
The music pieces were "Equinoxe I" and "Equinoxe V."
