WBBM Channel 2 - New Year's Eve: Chicago Style (Part 3, 1979/1980)

Here's Part 3 of "New Year's Eve: Chicago Style" - a special on WBBM Channel 2. Unfortunately, the recording starts during a commercial break and we miss the first 10 minutes or so of the broadcast - still, lots of local fun in this one. :-) This part includes:

John Coughlin accepts the snowball and then throws to a commercial.

Commercial: Vaseline - "Wonder Jelly" (which coincidently was my nickname in High School)

Commercial: Brown's Chicken - "It Tastes Better" (different one)

Commercial: Budget Rent-a-car (ending voiceover by Jerry Harper)

Commercial: Master Mechanic tools at True Value Hardware Stores (voiceover by Pat Summerall)

So there you have it - how's that for an obscure trivia question - what was the first commercial to air on WBBM in the 1980s? Answer: Vaseline. I wonder what the last commercial to air in the 80s on WBBM was? :-)

This aired on local Chicago TV early Tuesday, January 1st 1980 from about 12:05am to 12:07am.
