WMAQ Channel 5 - NewsCenter5 Special Report - "Winter Of '79" (Part 3, 1979)

Here's Part 3, the last part, of a NewsCenter5 Special Report on WMAQ Channel 5 about the great snowstorm of 1979. Features Chuck Henry, Jim Ruddle, Jim Tilmon, Dick Kay.

This part mostly seems to be a rehash of earlier reports in the broadcast - which perhaps explains why the person recording this decided to cut out early. Unfortunately, we miss the live discussion with Governor Thompson.

Note: The airdate for this is correct. Even though the major snowfall occurred on Saturday, January 13th 1979 - by the 24th it was still a top story, and the botched removal process by Mayor Bilandic was a big part of it.

This aired on local Chicago TV on Wednesday, January 24th 1979 during the 9:30pm to 10:30pm timeframe.
