Ms. Spencer won in the "Special Event Program" category for 1989 Golden Apple Awards For Excellence in Teaching on WTTW Channel 11, and there was a tie in the "Sports Program - Live or Unedited Coverage of Event, Single Program or Series" category between Fox 32 Sports: Chicago Bulls Basketball on WFLD Channel 32 (produced by Mr. Angio, Mr. Kolb and Mr. Ingram) and Chicago Cubs Baseball on WGN Channel 9 (produced by Arne Harris; Mr. Lotzer accepted the award on behalf of the WGN production staff). Mr. Wolf and Mr. Vorwald won in the "Sports - Series Covering Events" category for Sports Desk on WFLD Channel 32.
