This part begins with an aerial shot of the NBC Tower, then goes to a dance routine as the night's special guests' names are announced: Jonathon Brandmeier and The Leisure Suits, Kevin Matthews, John Herrera, Steve Rashid and the Pork Pie Orchestra, and featuring Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago (the dancers in question).

Host Byron Allen (of Real People fame, who was hosting his own talk show that aired on WMAQ at the time) then enters the stage and does a stand-up routine about flying and living alone.
