WFLD Channel 32 - Chicago Stuff (Part 2, 1985)
Here's a lost Koz Klassic! - Chicago Stuff - was it a failed pilot? A consolation prize from Fox Television for cancelling Son of Svengoolie a month later? A half-remembered dream? It only aired once, at 10pm on a Sunday in December 1985 - so you couldn't be blamed for not knowing it existed. (I only heard rumors) In any case, it's a neat little package of Rich's schtick, so just think of it as an extremely early episode of The Koz Zone. :-)
Thanks to W.B. for helping out with the video description!
Here's Part 2 of Chicago Stuff, a half-hour Chicago humor showcase hosted by Rich Koz (of Son of Svengoolie fame) that aired on WFLD Channel 32. This part includes:
Rich introducing guest Emo Phillips, briefly showing the cover of his album E=MO(2) (which won an MTV award for Best Comedy Album of the Year), and explaining Emo is very particular about the way he is to be introduced before coming out on stage.
Emo then comes out and does his monologue, and rambles on about his first snow, followed by a whole routine about cole slaw.
After his monologue is over, Emo joins Rich at the table and they tear pieces of paper into smaller and smaller pieces, jettisoning some torn parts until they're left with "an atom."
We then cut back to Jim Obvious (Koz) at the sports bar, with one of the monitors showing him; he has obvious problems hearing Rich from the earphone.
Next is an audience's-eye shot of the set, with super "The Cleaning Ladys Are Coming!" (with voiceover by Jim Barton)
Commercial: Slice and Diet Slice (again)
[And again, all other commercials from this break were cut out of the tape :-( ]
This aired on local Chicago TV on Sunday, December 15th 1985 during the 10pm to 10:30pm timeframe.
