Here's Part 5 (the last part) of a complete edition (with commercials) of ABC's World News Tonight with Peter Jennings in London and Max Robinson in Washington (Frank Reynolds was on vacation), from the day of the worst air disaster in U.S. history, the crash of American Airlines Flight 191 just outside Chicago's O'Hare Airport. This segment has more of the non-crash news of the day. Featuring Stephen Geer and Richard Mayk. Includes the following national news read or introduced by Max:

- New pollution standards for new coal-burning electrical power plants being announced by the government.

- A survey by AAA suggesting that enough gas should be available for the Memorial Day holiday weekend. This leads to a report from Stephen Geer on his "on the road" car trip from Los Angeles, through Phoenix and Flagstaff, AZ and Santa Fe, NM, Colorado Springs, CO, and Dodge City and Wichita, KS, to show how the gas crunch has affected many communities, with Colorado being the worst of all; gas station manager Sam Armstrong is interviewed. Stephen apologizes to fans of Gunsmoke for the way Dodge City looks these days, and ends his report in Wichita.

- A look at the Indianapolis 500 race, starting with a report on arrest warrants being issued for racing drivers A.J. Foyt and Danny Ongais, followed by a taped report from Richard Mayk about preparations for Sunday's upcoming race. Car owner Sherman Armstrong and racing driver Jerry Sneva are interviewed.

Max ends the newscast by saying that he'll be back in Chicago next week while Frank returns to the Washington anchor desk, and wishing viewers a good night.

Bumper promos for Welcome Back, Kotter (a special hour-long episode, "Oo, Oo, I Do," in which Horshack gets married) followed by The ABC Friday Night Movie presentation of a world premiere made-for-TV movie, "Hot Rod," and ABC network ID slide (voiceover by Bill Rice)

This aired on local Chicago TV on Friday, May 25th 1979 during the 5:53pm to 5:58pm timeframe.
