Here's something incredibly rare (tape-tracking problems notwithstanding) - another local movie show opening yanked from the dustbin of TV history! Tracking is kind of rough, but here is the opening of the Family Theatre presentation of "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol" on WGN Channel 9. We see a dancing man with a hat and cane, who eventually gets yanked by the hook, as in the vaudeville days. Kind of hard to tell how this was made but it looks too smooth to be animated. Maybe some kind of paper cut-out as in the When Movies Were Movies opening?

Also includes a partial commercial break with a mostly complete 7-Up commercial featuring a talking puppet reindeer.

Note: This was originally broadcast in color, but captured on this early home videotape recording in black and white.

Voiceover by Jerry Golden.

This aired on local Chicago TV on Thursday, December 14th 1972 at 7pm!
