WGN Channel 9 - The Morning Movie - "Caught in the Draft" (Opening, 1979)
Here's the opening and first commercial break from The Morning Movie presentation of the 1941 Bob Hope comedy "Caught in the Draft" on WGN Channel 9. The same opening and theme music as on their 1975 showing of "Sorry, Wrong Number" (1948) are still in use, but the color and picture are in overall better shape than the earlier clips. Includes:
WGN "Last Farewell" video animated ID (voiceover by Len Johnson)
WGN Morning Movie opening (music by ??) - with notice that the film is edited for television (voiceover by Len Johnson)
Commercial: Playback Stores - The Electronic Playground - Over 25 Chicagoland Stores - Over 80 name brands available, including Pioneer SX690 AM/FM Recorder for $178.86
Commercial Offer: Plant Communicator - that enables plants to talk to their owners (main voiceover by Wendall Craig) (ending voiceover by ??) Reminded me of Roald Dahl's short story The Sound Machine, about a man who develops a machine to hear sounds that plants are making which we normally can't hear. Very creepy.
Morning Movie bumper - leading in to opening moments of "Caught in the Draft" (with the 1958 MCA tv opening fanfare and logo that came right before many a pre-1948 Paramount Pictures feature, including this one)
"This morning's feature has been edited for television and will begin following these announcements."
This aired on local Chicago TV on Friday, December 14th 1979 during the 9am to 9:03am timeframe.
