TV 2 News at 6pm open - "From the Newsroom" - featuring Wallace and weather forecaster John Coughlin, plus preview of Part 2 of Bob Faw's report on coal mining in Illinois (voiceover by ??)

Bob Wallace announces at the start that Bill Kurtis is "still on vacation" in Florida, and goes to the following news items of the day:

- Complaints on overpriced or watered-down gasoline lead to a meeting to be held Monday among oil producers, city, state and Federal officials, wholesalers, and dealers to work out how to stop the sale of such gas, and finding ways to get gas price rules enforced evenly

- Bob introduces the second of a two-part report by Bob Faw on the state of Illinois' coal industry, including a look at initiatives by Illinois governor Dan Walker; shots of coal being drawn from local mines and other activities in and around the mines are shown, and an interview with Fred Nahas of the Peabody Coal Company is featured, in which he declares Governor Walker's initiatives to be "too little, too late"

- House Judiciary Committee minority counsel Albert Jenner, originally a lawyer from Chicago, is something of a thorn in President Nixon's side in regard to the Watergate investigation; he asserts Nixon should be responsible for his aides' conduct in the affair
