Here's Part 2 of a complete edition of the Channel 2 Weekend News on WBBM Channel 2, anchored by Bob Wallace (substituting for Harry Porterfield). Also featuring Cyndy Brucato. Includes:

Bob reading or introducing the following items:

- An 18th century violin worth approximately $20,000 and owned by one Win Alterman (sp?) is stolen from Lake Shore Holiday Inn; Alterman had been out for dinner and discovered his room ransacked and the violin and other items missing; police looking for two women who'd been entertained earlier in the day by Alterman

- A report by Cyndy Brucato about a threatened strike by Chicago area auto mechanics (members of Mechanics Local 701) in a dispute over local dealers' demands for working Saturdays without overtime pay; features an interview with Al Rosenberg of Clark-Maple Chevrolet (who says there'd be no service in the event of a strike)

- A threatened strike by firefighters in Waukegan, IL, after a three-year battle with City Hall over collective bargaining and pay

Bob then previews Irene Rodriguez's upcoming weather report before the next commercial break

Commercial: RTA Mass Transit - using Alka-Seltzer motif and music based on The Beach Boys' "I Get Around" - "Twice a Day" ("You'll Get Around Much Better")

Commercial: Alberto VO5 Hair Spray - with Rula Lenska, English Television and Theatre Star (if she was famous in the U.S. at all, other than for these ads which were the source of much parody and ridicule, it was for her role as Nancy 'Q' Cunard de Longchamps on the British series Rock Follies which aired in 1976-77 on WTTW Channel 11) - "The Incredible 14-Hour Hair Spray" (this ad, with a few alterations at the end, can also be seen on this clip)

Commercial: Animated Dean Foods ice cream - "You Can Taste How Much We Care" (different from the ad shown within this clip)

NOTE: One year after this newscast, Cyndy Brucato began a long run on Minneapolis - Saint Paul TV, joining KSTP Channel 5 as reporter and anchor on that station's Eyewitness News. Within her first year there, she was co-anchoring with Ron Magers before he, in turn, came to Chicago, first via WMAQ Channel 5 (most notably co-anchoring with Carol Marin) and, more recently, WLS Channel 7.

This aired on local Chicago TV on Sunday, July 2nd 1978 during the 6pm to 6:30pm timeframe.
