WBBM Channel 2 - A Merry Olde Christmas (Part 1, 1984)
Here's Part 1 of A Merry Olde Christmas, a look at Christmas celebrations in and around London, England that was hosted by Bob Wallace and aired on WBBM Channel 2. From the original master tape. Includes:
CG opening slate: "A Merry Olde Christmas - Rec. 12/21/84 - P.B. 12/22/84" (set in Serifa Bold, a serif font used by CBS News and its owned stations for lower-third super text on newscasts during this period)
Bob Wallace opening the program by walking near the River Thames, with the Tower Bridge in the background. This leads to a preview of the various sights and sounds that will be seen on the program, including church bells ringing, choruses caroling, seasonal foods, children meeting "Father Christmas" with a British accent, night scenes of traffic, and other aspects of, in his words, "how merry olde England celebrates a merry olde Christmas" (which cues up the title on the screen).
"We'll return to our program after these messages" bumper (voiceover by ??)
This aired on local Chicago TV on Saturday, December 22nd 1984 during the 6:30pm to 7pm timeframe.
The program was also aired twice more; on Saturday, December 14th 1985 at 6:30pm and Saturday, December 13th 1986 at 12:00 Noon.
