WLS Channel 7 - AM Chicago - "Dick & Doug" (Part 1, 1976)
Here's Part 1 of an interview segment from AM Chicago on WLS Channel 7, in which host Steve Edwards interviews the legendary morning drive team of Dick (Sainte) and Doug (Dahlgren) - "Dick and Doug", who were fired from WCFL AM 1000 on March 12th 1976 midway through their air shift, after talking too much about that station's change in format from Top 40 to beautiful music (they had been explicitly forbidden to do so by WCFL's general manager, Lew Witz). In this part, they speak of the cities they had previously worked in and future prospects for each. Notice from 3:11 to 3:22, as Sainte was recounting his work history by city, an on-screen station ID is shown. They also discuss other radio personalities, including WGN Radio 720's Wally Phillips. This part ends with a shot of one of the Marina City towers and a super text (originally orange colored), set in Cooper Black Italic (as are the lower-thirds): "monday..."yuck it up" with Morey Amsterdam."
NOTE: This broadcast was originally in color, but captured on an early home videotape recording in black and white. There are also some tape-tracking problems that are noticeable at certain points on this clip.
This aired on local Chicago TV on Thursday, March 18th 1976 during the 9am to 10:30am timeframe.
