This clip made possible by the donations from our generous group of "Fuzzketeers" during the January 2012 2" Quad Transfer Fundraiser.

Here's a partial opening of a very old edition of The CBS Late Movie on WBBM Channel 2 - the 116th "episode" of the series, a presentation of the 1965 Elvis Presley movie "Harum Scarum" (which also co-starred Fran Jeffries and Mary Ann Mobley).

Note: This clip was previously *incorrectly* dated as from the 31st "episode" of the CBS Late Movie that aired on Monday, March 27th 1972 at 10:30pm. This clip actually aired on Friday, July 28th 1972. The Museum of Classic Chicago Television regrets the error. (Those responsible have been sacked.) ;-)

Includes:

Ending of TV2 News with anchor Bob Wallace (sans moustache, and flanked on his left by weatherman John Coughlin and on his right by sportscaster Brent Musburger) ending the newscast (with lower-third super text, set in IBM Selectric Univers Bold, advising that "Portions of this broadcast were previously recorded") and introducing The CBS Late Movie, whose "star" opening is initially seen through the chroma-key screen on the set

I think Bob Wallace sounds very David Brinkley-esque here, doesn't he? :-)

The CBS Late Movie open (with 1971 recording of theme music "So Old, So Young" by Morton Stevens) and start of preview of "Harum Scarum" before tape cuts off (voiceover by Norm Stevens - no relation to theme composer)

This aired on local Chicago TV on Friday, July 28th 1972 at 10:30pm.
