Here's Part 1 of a local music show, Made in Chicago, on WTTW Channel 11. This program (which was also simulcast on WBBM-FM 96.3) was a predecessor to Soundstage which was also produced by the station and aired nationally over PBS. The guests on this (re-run airing) edition were Aliotta-Haynes-Jeremiah (bassist Mitch Aliotta, guitarist Skip Haynes and pianist John Jeremiah) and Bill Quateman.

Note: As with other things we've found, this is actually quite rare. Until this episode was discovered, there were only two other episodes of Made in Chicago known to exist (on videotape) - episodes featuring Billy Joel and another with Jim Croce. Apparently, neither the producers of the show nor WTTW have any more episodes on video. By the time they got to Soundstage the programs were saved, but unfortunately not for this ground-breaking predecessor.

This part includes:

Host Jerry G. Bishop (only a few months prior to the end of his run as the original Svengoolie on WFLD Channel 32, at the time of this show's original airing) opening the program, with notice that Tony Phillips of WBBM-FM will be introducing Bill Quateman later; Jerry G. then introduces Aliotta-Haynes-Jeremiah (or as he calls them, "Aliotta, Haynes & Jeremiah"), advising they are popular in several local areas including Berwyn (injecting one of his Svengoolie gags in the process), and leading in to their performing one of their most famous numbers, "Snow Queen"; they next perform a version of "Get Together" (which had been made famous by The Youngbloods), then sing a portion of "Driving Wheel" (later recorded by The Cowboy Junkies as "Lost My Driving Wheel") before finishing "Get Together." Why didn't they play their big hit, "Lake Shore Drive"? No idea. Shame they didn't, though.

Note: This was originally broadcast in color, but captured on this early home videotape recording in black and white.

This aired on local Chicago TV on Saturday, August 3rd 1974 during the 9pm to 10pm timeframe. (six days later Nixon resigns the Presidency!) This was the fourth airing of this program, which was originally broadcast on Wednesday, April 11th 1973, and also repeated on Saturday, April 14th 1973 and Saturday, February 9th 1974.
