Here's the "Mail Time" segment of Popeye with Steve Hart on WSNS Channel 44. Includes:

Steve starting off in front of Captain Salty, going on about what happened with "Dear Crabby" early on, with Bookie Worm (the voice of Nancy Boyle) at the desk. He then goes to the big Popeye spinach jar to select four lucky winners - the fifth who says "I Watch Popeye on Channel 44" to be invited to the lighthouse (he ends up taking one extra letter).

The first letter Steve reads is from Christie Tejas (sp?) of Rockford, IL, who sent a drawn picture of Olive Oyl and Popeye's boat. The second is from Kyle Hink (sp?), 7, of Sycamore, IL, who also drew a picture of Olive and Popeye. The third is from Bob Haupt (whose surname Steve spells out, thankfully) of Wonder Lake, IL, who sent pictures of Mean Mr. Mustard, Bookie Worm, Popeye and Spider-Man. The fourth is from LaRosa Marks (sp?) of Peoria, IL, who sent a drawing of Popeye's famed spinach can. The fifth is from Miles Walsh of Bloomington, IL, who sent two pictures of Mean Mr. Mustard. Steve then advises all the kids to send their color pictures to "Steve & Popeye" c/o Channel 44 at their West Grant Place address, and mentions that the kids will get buttons, pictures, and a game from Milton Bradley. The big winner (whose prize is Kayo chocolate drinks) is Frank Hutchinson of Waukegan, IL. They then go to the next Popeye cartoon.

NOTE: As far as we know this was originally broadcast in color, but captured on this studio Umatic copy in black and white for some unknown reason.

This aired on local Chicago TV circa 1975.
