WCIX Channel 6 - Snipets - "Pride Has Many Faces" (1984)

Here's another rare Snipets segment! These originally were created by and aired on the Kaiser Broadcasting / Field Communications stations such as WFLD Channel 32, in the 70s and early 80s. However, with the sale and dissolution of Field starting in 1982, for whatever reason Snipets segments popped up on a few other non-Field or former-Field stations, even as late as 1986!

This particular airing came from a non-Field station, WCIX Channel 6 (now WFOR Channel 4) in Miami - Fort Lauderdale, FL. I'll bet the people that made the decision to run these knew that Field was out of business by this point and figured that these were essentially in the public domain. They probably needed some cheap PSA-type filler and thus turned to Der Schnipets. I wonder where they got the tapes of them though?

In this segment, a child is hitting balls with a racquet to the wall of a building outside, with his voiceover mentioning how he hopes to be a tennis pro someday, with the right perseverance. At the end of this segment, it dissolves to a station ID slide with drawings of four children, and a voiceover (by ??) advising, "A message from your friends at WCIX Channel 6" (which was put in place of the "Produced by Field Communications" notice that was kept for the Field stations' airings).

"In America, I could be somebody."

This aired on local Miami / Fort Lauderdale TV on the morning of Sunday, Februrary 5th 1984. (1977 Copyright) (Not from Chicago, but still an important part of SnipetsHistory)
