This clip made possible by the donations from our generous group of "Fuzzketeers" during the Spring 2012 Tape Transfer Fundraiser.

Here are some excerpts of the various public affairs and miscellaneous programming offered by WSNS Channel 44 in the mid-1970's, from a demo reel produced by the station. Included are:

Opening moments of a monthly health talk series, Coping (produced in cooperation with the Institute of Medicine of Chicago and made possible by Commonwealth Edison Company), hosted by Bob Krit of the Chicago Medical School; his guest on this edition (which dealt with how some people are overcome with depression during holiday periods) was Dr. LeRoy P. Levitt, but this excerpt fades out before we could hear the name of Kritt's co-host (Art Snider.) This program aired Monday December 6th 1976 at 9:30 PM.

Opening moments of Dimensions '76 with Patricia O'Brien, who in this edition (titled "The Gubernatorial Race: A Dialogue - Part I: James R. Thompson") was interviewing the aforementioned Republican candidate for Governor of Illinois, who ultimately won and served in that office from 1977 to 1991 (theme music: opening intro to "Under the Influence of Love" by Love Unlimited, as on their 1973 LP Under the Influence of Love Unlimited, 20th Century T-414). This program aired Saturday October 23rd 1976 at 9 PM.

Excerpts from The Illinois State Lottery, which promised a "Great Auto Giveaway" and other prizes; the hosts are Bob Hale and Sandie Wolsfeld (former Miss Illinois 1968 and Miss World - USA 1970), and featured in this clip are readings of horse race winnings for $200,000 (the lucky winner: Greta Osborne (sp?) of Chicago) (opening voiceover by ??)

Local cutaways for The Jerry Lewis Telethon, with one part showing a count of $584,295 being raised, and another part spotlighting three kids (brothers Chris, Brad and Randy Smitt) with muscular dystrophy, and Randy doing a Fonz impression; the hosts of the local segments at the time were Steve Edwards and Sandi Freeman of WLS Channel 7's AM Chicago. Program aired Sunday September 5th-Monday September 6th 1976.

This was from a demo reel which was never broadcast, but the shows in question originally aired on local Chicago TV during the 1976-77 timeframe.
