- Republican National Committee, in their Ohio meeting, names Ray C. Bliss as their chairman (a position in which he would serve until 1969, during which time he helped pave the way for the election of Richard M. Nixon as President in 1968), and Barry Goldwater admits blame for his rout in the 1964 Presidential race (and also blames the federal government which he says was "aligned" against him, while he's at it)

- Sir Winston Churchill's condition deteriorates after three days of no change (he would die on January 24th)

- American officials say several thousand North Vietnamese troops infiltrated into South Vietnam via Laos in past year; yet no evidence suggesting that North Vietnamese are operating in large numbers in the South

- Rev. Billy Graham returns to Clearwater area for visit, coming to the Fenway campus of Trinity College in Dunedin where he'd graduated 25 years before; excerpts of the good reverend's talk at the campus are shown, in which he contrasts the response to his crusades at the present time versus two years prior

- A two-car collision at 21st Street and 17th Avenue in Tampa's Ybor City section leaves questions as to who was to blame; according to investigating officer G.E. Takums (sp?), a car driven by Robert Sherman, 19, of 3307 33rd Avenue had crashed into that of Maxwell Bobby Long (sp?) of Dover; one car ended up atop another, and three were hospitalized (24-year-old Arlene Sherman, in fair condition at Tampa General; and 52-year-old Mrs. Olie (sp?) Long and her son, 37-year-old Charles Long, in good condition at St. Joseph's); no charges were filed as of the point of this newscast; film footage shows the aftermath
