Here's another "end of tape" find - the first minute or so of The Callaway-Ruddle Report on WTTW Channel 11, anchored by John Callaway (formerly of WBBM Channel 2, soon to be a Channel 11 mainstay) and Jim Ruddle (formerly of WGN Channel 9, later to go to WMAQ Channel 5), and featuring arts critic Johanna Steinmetz. Includes:

Station ID slide with a crowd of children peering from behind a gated fence (voiceover by Don Ferris)

Cold open, with previews of following items accordingly:

- Jim Ruddle on Illinois Legislature considering veto override and Governor-elect James Thompson warning them against it

- John Callaway on Tokyo Rose filing for a Presidential pardon

- Johanna Steinmetz on women "running the show" at the Arlington Park Theatre

- Jim teasing an upcoming Christine Harris report on the supplemental freeway system and a Sanford Unger report detailing a new probe into the assassination of Martin Luther King

Opening titles, with faraway shot of "the Channel 11 Public News Center" (voiceover by Marty Robinson)

Jim starts off with these items:

- An attack by four Arab terrorists on the Intercontinental Hotel in Amman, Jordan, which left seven dead; this attack was in protest over Arab League backing of Syria's involvement in Lebanese civil war; three of the terrorists ultimately killed, and the fourth seriously wounded, by Jordanian commandos

- In Beirut, Lebanon, a brief skirmish between pro- and anti-Syrian Palestinians, finally quelled by Syrian peacekeeping troops

- In Rhodesia, two black nationalist leaders, Robert Mugabe (who would ultimately run what would later be renamed Zimbabwe) and Joseph Nkomo agree to talk about an interim government before a fixed date of a declaration of independence; they had flatly refused to enter such discussions up to that point

- Governor-elect James Thompson warns Illinois Legislature not to override any vetoes of outgoing Governor Dan Walker's money bills (he is midway through this story when the recording cuts out)

This aired on local Chicago TV on Wednesday, November 17th 1976 at 9pm.
