Here's a special and rare treat for the 35th Anniversary of the infamous "Disco Demolition" event! (please excuse the ghosty picture quality and buzzy audio)

Includes:

Part 3 of the TV44 Sports Spotlight with Jim Durham, with the San Diego Chicken (a.k.a. Ted Giannoulas) as guest, as aired on WSNS Channel 44 just before the first game of a proposed doubleheader with the Detroit Tigers that was followed by the infamous "Disco Demolition Night." Includes:

The Chicken starts off with a little softshoe (but no music playing), then explains how and why he turned down a $100,000 offer from then-Atlanta Braves owner Ted Turner, yet hoped to connect with him to do a week's worth of work for the Braves or the Hawks; he disputes a newspaper report quoting him as claiming the offer was "chicken feed." Next, he goes on about his appearances at rock concerts, including Chuck Berry, Elvis, Paul McCartney and The Doobie Brothers, before going on to how he meshes his interests in rock music, sports and comedy into his act.

For the next commercial bumper, more clips of the Chicken in action (with the "Pathé News" theme music), with lower-third "More 'Fowl' Talk....In a Minute"

Commercial: Schlitz Beer - which makes softball games a hit - "Schlitz Makes It Great" - (C) 1978 Jos. Schlitz Brewing Co., Mil., Wisc.

Promo for 1967-70 version of Dragnet, for Saturdays at 6pm (voiceover by Don Ferris)

Promo for upcoming Sox-Tigers game, with Harry Caray - "Coming Up Next"

Plug for Johnny Carson fragrance collection for men, available at DeKoven, Marshall Field's, Rothschilds and Montgomery Ward - given to Sports Spotlight guests (voiceover by Don Ferris)

This aired on local Chicago TV on Thursday, July 12th 1979 from about 4:59pm to 5:15pm.
