Here's a promo for the upcoming premiere of Newscene with Kathy McFarland, in which she promises the "earliest late-night news" every weeknight at 9:55pm following Sanford & Son.

Based on a few pieces of evidence, including what was recorded on top of this, there are only four possible dates that this promo could have aired on local Chicago TV: 1) Early Sunday, January 14th 1979 at about 12:30am, 2) Early Sunday, January 21st at about 12:30am, 3) Early Sunday, January 28th at about 12:30am, or 4) Early Sunday, February 4th at about 12:30am.
