WMAQ Channel 5 - All-Star Salute to Mother's Day [Excerpt] (Part 2, 1981)
Here's our Part 2 of a portion of a special, All-Star Salute to Mother's Day, hosted by Ed McMahon and Jayne Kennedy, that aired on WMAQ Channel 5. This part features Bobby Vinton. Includes:
Ed starting off with showing off various American foods as part of the Mother's Day salute, including hamburgers, hot dogs, apple pie, and...kielbasa, leading into an appearance by Bobby Vinton. Before he starts off his number, he introduces his mother Dorothy to the assembled audience, then goes off on a sprightly rendition of "Mama Don't Allow" (with Bobby soloing on clarinet, drums and trumpet at various parts).
Ed then introduces a segment where various mom-oriented license plates are shown with such messages as "Its Mom," "Mom No1," "Best Ma," "My Mammy," "Moms Dzl," "Moms Car," "Atty Mom," "Luv MyMa," "IMom4Us," "Moms Bom," "Doc Mom," "Momma," "Drs' Mom," "Moms A10," "MyMom2," "Mom 9X," "Mom A2Z," "Mom4Ten," and "Mom4 USC," all to a discofied rendition of The Beatles' "Drive My Car."
