WMAQ Channel 5 - The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson (Promos / Station ID's, 1976)
Here's a series of promos by Johnny Carson for The Tonight Show on WMAQ Channel 5, transferred from the original 2" quad master tape.
The first (designated "PR-1040 CARSON :10's - TAKE 1") is a promo for the show to air at 10:30pm following NewsCenter5 with Ron Hunter; on the second ("TAKE 2"), Johnny thanks viewers for watching the show over "the past 13-1/2 years"; the third ("TAKE 3") advises viewers to watch or "the Bird of Paradise will fly up your nose"; and the fourth ("TAKE 4") is a station ID / promo with Mr. Carson suggesting "you won't believe" what will be on at 10:30pm - and then offhandedly saying he himself would like to see same. All but the last have an animated station ID at the end.
These promos aired on local Chicago TV during 1976.
