Here's an NBC News Special Report on the death of former Vice President and New York Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller as aired on WMAQ Channel 5. The bulletin came at the end of a commercial break and interrupted an edition of The Midnight Special which featured The Village People amongst the musical guests. I left some of the song in at the end for fun. Includes:

Tail end of commercial for Tickle anti-perspirant for women - "You'll Love The Way It Works" - (C) Bristol-Myers Company 1978

NBC News Special Report on death of Nelson Rockefeller from an apparent heart attack; as noted by his press spokesman Hugh Morrow, he had died at his Rockefeller Center office around midnight (New York time) (voiceover by Bill Rippe)

Returning to The Midnight Special, already in progress, with The Village People midway through their big hit "Macho Man"

This aired on local Chicago TV early Saturday, January 27th 1979 at about 12:17am.
