Here's an excerpt of Bozo's Circus on WGN Channel 9, featuring a news bulletin crawled on the lower-third section of the screen during a showing of the Huckleberry Hound cartoon "A Bully Dog" (from Season #2, Episode #5, originally aired on November 2nd 1959).

In another case of synchronicity, a message about the satellite space station Skylab falling back to earth was given during the point in this episode where Huck, playing the role of a messenger boy, attempts to deliver a telegram.

The crawl read as follows (all punctuation and spacing as typed out by the WGN CG [character generator] typists):

"Here is a bulletin from the WGN newsroom: Skylab has plummeted back to earth, with the first of its tons of debris falling into the Indian Ocean southwest of Australia. There is no way to tell precisely where or when Skylab landed. Additional details will be given on the Midday Report at 12:55."

This aired on local Chicago TV on Wednesday, July 11th 1979 during the 12:00pm to 1pm timeframe.

This footage was donated to The Museum of Classic Chicago Television as part of the Bob DeBartolo Collection.
