Here's another "Rare Rayner" clip. ;-) A surviving excerpt from an episode of the Ray Rayner show on WGN Channel 9.

In yet another example of synchronicity, this clip just happens to be from the same exact date (just earlier in the day) as a previous clip we found that came from a completely different source. Remarkable in itself since 1979 material can be hard to find - period, much less from the same day and same channel.

Includes:

Ending of a Looney Tunes Road Runner cartoon

Clock with Ray giving the current time, followed by the famous chalk board and Ray giving us the temps and baseball scores

Ray introduces the "PRE-RECORDED" (oh, the irony) filmed traffic report by "Flying Officer" Jim Cavanaugh (of the Chicago Police Department) and "Flying Officer" John Camden (of the Cook County Sheriff's Police Department, in Copter 2) high up in the sky in the WGN-TV helicopters. (Chicago closed their two-helicopter operation in 1979, according to Dan Veeneman)

Ray informs us that he'll be right back "with the Birdhouse" (sounds like another project he was working on that we saw remnants of on the desk earlier in this clip)

Commercial: Franken Berry and Boo Berry Monster Cereals (1978 Copyright)

Commercial: Micronauts' Trons by Mego (1978 Copyright) (also seen later in the same day)

Commercial: Micronauts' Aquatron & Galactic Defender by Mego (1978 Copyright) (recording cuts out about halfway through) (full version was also seen later in the same day)

This aired on local Chicago TV on Wednesday, May 9th 1979 during the 8:36am - 8:40am timeframe.
